Why We’re Supporting CALM: A Mission Close to Our Hearts

At LoveLossDiscoballs, our mission goes beyond creating support cards, candles, and gifts. We aim to spark conversations, bring comfort, and offer moments of brightness in the hardest times. That’s why we’re beyond proud to announce we are raising funds in aid of CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). From every purchase of our support cards and candles, we’ll donate 50p to this incredible charity, helping them continue their vital work in preventing suicide and supporting mental health.

This cause is deeply personal to us. Five years ago, Rachel’s husband tragically died by suicide when she was pregnant. Losing him was devastating - both because of his absence and the stigma that still surrounds mental health struggles. At a time when he should have felt able to reach out, he didn’t. She felt the heavy isolation of grief and the questions that remain unanswered. So we know first-hand the importance of creating spaces where it’s okay to talk about emotions, vulnerability, and the weight of life’s challenges.

For our son, we dream of a different world. One where boys grow up knowing it’s brave to say, “I’m not ok,” where asking your mate if they’re alright - and truly meaning it - becomes as natural as saying hello. CALM’s work aligns perfectly with this vision. They’re building that future by providing helplines, resources, and awareness campaigns that normalise these life-saving conversations.

By supporting CALM, we hope to contribute to this change. Each card or candle purchased isn’t just a gift for someone you care about - it’s a step toward a world where fewer families experience the heartbreak we have. It’s an investment in building a culture of kindness, connection, and care.

Thank you for supporting our small business and helping us create a brighter, more compassionate world. Together, we can make sure fewer people suffer in silence and more people feel the strength to keep going.
